Instagram Wrapped 2026: there is no official one — here is yours.

Every December, “Instagram Wrapped” trends because Spotify ships a Wrapped and Instagram does not. Here is what people actually mean by it, what the closest thing contains, and how to make yours from the posts you really published.

What “Instagram Wrapped” means

“Wrapped” is Spotify's name for its personal year-in-review: a designed summary of what you listened to, built automatically from your account data. People type “Instagram Wrapped” for the same reason they say “Wordle” instead of “word puzzle”: the format is now the expectation.

There is no official Instagram Wrapped that you can generate on demand. Instagram has experimented with end-of-year features in some markets, but it does not ship a card you can build from your own posts and share as an image.

So the phrase means one of three things, depending on who is asking:

  • a nine-post recap of the year, laid out like a profile grid (the “top 9” or “best nine”);
  • a stats recap — posts published, likes, saves, best month, most-used colour;
  • a designed card — the same numbers, typography and palette, ready for a Story.

What the Instagram equivalent contains

A real year recap is not a collage of your camera roll. It is a summary of your account, which means it needs the posts you actually published and the counters Instagram exposes for them. That is what Prevz builds:

  1. Your top 9 — ranked by likes, saves or comments, whichever metric you choose. Top 1 for a hero shot, top 5 for a tight edit, top 9 for the classic grid.
  2. Your totals — posts published, likes, saves, comments, and the metric you led on.
  3. Your rhythm — the months you posted, and the gaps. The shape of a year is rarely what people remember.
  4. Your palette — the dominant colours of up to 36 photos, so the card looks like your feed rather than a template.
  5. The card itself — an editorial layout with a serif line, the year in the corner, and a discreet @prevz_app signature. Export at 1080 × 1920 for a Story or 1080 × 1350 for the feed.
Missing counters stay missing.

Instagram does not always return every metric. A post with an unknown counter is shown as unknown — never as zero, which would quietly push a good post out of the nine.

How to make yours in five minutes

  1. Connect an Instagram Creator or Business account. The connection is optional and read-only: Prevz imports your posts and counters, never your password.
  2. Pick the season. The current year, or a specific year you want to look back on.
  3. Pick the metric — likes for reach, saves for usefulness, comments for conversation.
  4. Choose a card. The recap offers its own editorial palettes; the grid preview keeps the app's themes.
  5. Export and post. The image is yours; nothing is published for you.

What it is not

It is not Spotify Wrapped for Instagram, because the two platforms measure different things: Spotify owns listening data, Instagram owns posts. It is not an official Instagram product, and it does not read your DMs, your close friends or your private audience.

What it is: a designed, honest summary of the year you published — built from your own posts, on your own phone.

Instagram Wrapped, answered

Does Instagram have a Wrapped?

Not one you can generate on demand. Instagram has tested end-of-year features in some regions, but there is no official card built from your own posts. The community answer is the nine-post recap.

Is that the same as the top 9 or the best nine?

It is the same idea with a different name. “Best nine” and “top nine” describe the nine-post grid; “Wrapped” adds the stats and the designed card around it. The best nine guide covers the grid itself.

Can I make one without a Creator or Business account?

You can still use the grid preview and the design tools. The automatic recap — the part that ranks your published posts — needs the optional connection, because a personal account does not expose per-post counters through the API.

Is it free?

Free to download and free to try. Paid plans cover AI caption credits and multiple account workspaces.

Will it look like everyone else's?

The layout is consistent — that is the point of a series — but the palette is sampled from your own photos, the numbers are yours, and the line is chosen for the year you had.
